The Investment Centre Division (TCI) promotes investment in agriculture and rural development in developing countries and countries in transition, assisting governments, international financing institutions (IFIs) and other development partners with the strategic planning and implementation of their investments to achieve growth, poverty alleviation, food security and nutrition goals.

Under the supervision of the Director, TCI, and in close collaboration with the Principal and Senior Advisers, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the Division’s knowledge and information management activities in the area of food security and nutrition, agriculture and rural development (FSNARD). In particular, the incumbent will:

ensure efficient information management of divisional activities;
prepare and coordinate the updating of divisional briefs on FAO investment support;
coordinate the editing and production of publications and other information materials (leaflets, brochures, etc.);
oversee the update of statistics on divisional contributions to investment operations;
manage and update the relevant FAO Web pages on investment support;
coordinate divisional communication activities;
support the development and coordination of knowledge sharing events;
represent the Division in working groups, task forces and other fora concerned with knowledge information management and communication;
perform other related duties as required.


Candidates should meet the following:

University degree in information science, communication, business administration or other fields related to the work of the Organization

Five years of relevant experience in either, or a combination of, knowledge management, information management, and communication

Working knowledge of two languages, English and either French or Spanish


Candidates will be assessed against the following:

Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing including demonstrated reporting skills in English

Extent of experience in knowledge management and knowledge sharing approaches and practices

Knowledge of good editorial and publishing practices

Extent and relevance of experience in the use of information and knowledge management systems

Extent of knowledge of international financing institutions in the area of FSNARD and familiarity with sources of information on this topic

Knowledge of other official languages would be an asset

Please note that all candidates should possess computer/word processing skills and should be capable of working with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
