Background Information - Job-specific

The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is seeking a web designer with Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) experience to help us improve OCHA’s corporate web presence across the organization and design a new suite of sites - country, regional and thematic - in line with OCHA’s new corporate website.

Functional Responsibilities

Deliverables

Design (HTML, CSS) a new suite of websites for OCHA’s country and regional offices in line with OCHA’s new look and feel and support the web development.

Work closely with the web developer to support the creation of a new suite of APIs to pull real-time data from OCHA’s core financial databases and document repositories - ReliefWeb, OCT, FTS, GMS - and make it visually appealing and easy to use.

Design (HTML, CSS) a number of new corporate microsites - starting with OCHA’s Global Humanitarian Overview launch and the 2017 Data and Trends report.

Re-structure and re-organize the CSS file/files in a way that it easy to update in the future.

Prepare technical documentation for the use and update of the CSS file/files.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in web design, graphic design, digital art, computer science, information technology or other related fields is required.

Experience

A minimum of two (2) years of experience in web and visual design, including hands-on experience with CSS required;
Good knowledge of user experience design, usability and responsive design;
Solid understanding of up-to-date HTML 5 and CSS3;
Proven experience in advising on digital design and best practices is required;
Basic knowledge in JS, jQuery and Highcharts;
Language

Fluency in oral and written English is required.

Fluency in Spanish is desirable.
