Organisational Setting and Reporting
The post is located in the Data Development and Dissemination Unit (DDDU), Research and Trend Analysis Branch (RAB), Division for Policy Analysis and Public Affairs (DPA), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Chief DDDU.

Within limits of delegated authority, the Senior Statistical Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:
Collect, evaluate, process and analyse statistical data from a variety of sources.
Process, classify and ensure internal consistency of data, reconcile discrepancies in data series.
Prepare all approved designs in electronic format for final review and printing; review colour and print proofs as required.
Systematically follow through and retrieve, highlight and compile information from a variety of information sources; prepare input for the electronic database and the internet and cooperate with national institutes and organizations in the collection of data.
Build special data sets for specific research needs or for reports.
Prepare charts, graphs, maps and other outputs for reporting and presentation of various data.
Distribute work assignments to members of the team and monitor progress.
Design and establish internal database systems.
Maintain relevant computerized databases.

Develop, apply, test and execute software programmes on the basis of the specifications provided.
Respond to internal/external requests on questions related to specific programmes.
Supervise and guide other general service staff in the function, as needed.
Perform other work-related duties as required.
