Organizational Setting

The Office for Corporate Communication (OCC) is responsible for all corporate and internal communication activities of the Organization. It ensures coherence and consistency in FAO’s corporate messaging and communications‘ outputs, as well as enables cost-effectiveness in use of communication-related resources across the Organization.

FAO Consultant/PSA and Call purpose

The purpose of this call is to attract talent with experience and background in the area of librarianship and archives to populate Consultant/PSA rosters.

Candidates who have already applied for IRCs 4885, 4889, 4890 need not re-apply for this vacancy.

Reporting Lines

The Consultants/PSAs will report directly to the OiC of the FAO Library & Archives .

Technical Focus

Knowledge management, information delivery, outreach, library publishing & exhibitions, metadata, digitalization, archives.

Tasks and responsibilities

The generic functions for the profile include, but are not limited to, the following: Knowledge Management

Develop and implementing literature search strategies in relevant databases like WoS or CABAbstracts, and providing maintenance and technical support for Endnote;
Develop a communication strategy in support of Library goals, with website posts, newsletters and exhibitions;
Respond to information requests from FAO staff and external users;
Provide technical expertise with the integrated library system KOHA and leading its upgrades, enhancements and interoperability with other content software like Agrovoc to better disseminate FAO content;
