Write content for Library publications, and preparing presentations for senior management in technical divisions to support Library resources and research activities.
Coordinate metadata/cataloguing tasks using OCLC, KOHA ILMS Cataloguing software, AGROVOC indexing tool and metadata standards for FAO and non-FAO publications both in print and online formats, in a variety of languages and subject fields;
Provide intellectual expertise and leadership in creating and maintaining documentation of local metadata standards and in determining appropriate guidelines of rules of AACR, LC, UDC, MARC21 for FAO specialized material;
Coordinate authority file updates in KOHA by conducting complex searches in several languages and specific subjects to establish appropriate form of main entries; ensuring all material can be retrieved conveniently using standardized methods;
Ensure that FAO’s descriptive practices are complementary to international efforts to promote interoperability.
Ensure that all FAO documents, projects, reports, series and monographs are processed accurately and disseminated on a timely basis;
Perform collection maintenance of FAO and non-FAO publications, serials and monographs; as well as of historical collections, according to the Library’s classification systems and specialized collection arrangements;
Help to digitize historical collections;
Provide assistance with document delivery, FAO Reproduction and Reference services including retrieval and shelving as well as research in ILS KOHA;
Create digital archival finding aids reflecting departmental holdings;
Prepare comprehensive archiving guides and other descriptive materials for information-retrieval purposes;
Contribute to archival processing, including appraisal of semi-current records to meet business needs;
Assist in other tasks, such as providing reference services to researchers, updating FAO’s record-keeping policies and procedures and updating records retention schedules.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Advanced University degree for COFs or University degree for PSAs in library science, archives or related field
1 year (Level C) or 5 years (Level B) of relevant experience in knowledge management, metadata, records and archives management
For consultants, working knowledge (Level C) of English, French and Spanish and limited knowledge (Level B) of one of the other two or Arabic, Chinese or Russian
For PSAs, working knowledge (Level C) of one of FAO’s official languages. For consultants (Level B) working knowledge of another official language is desirable
