We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Communication Officer - Events and Media Monitoring to join our Communications and Marketing Department. WorldFish, a unique and well-respected international research organization with a mission to inform and influence solutions to global challenges, such as food security, nutrition, poverty, ocean governance, climate change and gender equality through high-quality science and strong research evidence on sustainable aquaculture and fisheries.

Events, media relations and media monitoring are essential activities of the Communications and Marketing team. They help position WorldFish as a trusted source of scientific expertise and maintain credibility with the public, donors, partners and others. The post holder will provide a range of high-quality communications services to support these efforts. Duties include:

Monitoring international media coverage of issues related to or including WorldFish and responding to media enquiries.

Drafting press releases; speeches and presentations for directors and senior scientists; videos; brochures; e-newsletters; and reports.

Dissemination of communication products via the WorldFish website, social media, Mailchimp and others.

Maintaining a calendar of events and supporting WorldFish’s participation in and communication about the events.

Capturing in-house events on video and handling all aspects of post-production.

Key Responsibilities

External events: support in global conferences, workshops, etc. by promoting awareness of the events, liaising with speakers and event organisers, and collecting, reviewing, and disseminating agendas, presentations, talking points and other communication outputs.

Internal events: support in organizing and implementing a calendar of knowledge sharing and learning events hosted by WorldFish, in particular the Fish for Thought multimedia series. Duties include promoting awareness of the events, liaising with speakers and moderators, developing events and visitors‘ programs, collecting, reviewing, editing and disseminating presentations, talking points and other event materials via various digital and social media channels. Support the planning of visits by high-profile guests to WorldFish.
