Communications Materials: Develop, write, edit and review event announcements, media monitoring reports, press releases, videos, e-newsletters and other outreach materials. Provide support as needed in the design, production and publication of such materials. Liaise with graphic designers, printers, photographers, translators, as required, and the networks of WorldFish communications staff in country offices to plan and develop a schedule of content. Co-ordinates distribution of reports, press releases and other communications materials to external parties.

Monitoring: Monitor and report coverage of WorldFish in a wide variety of media (with the assistance of a news monitoring service, and other online resources) on a continual basis to ensure WorldFish is up to date with relevant news and developments. Research, monitor and report on topics of relevance to WorldFish. Monitor social media activity and respond to external enquiries as needed, in consultation with managers as appropriate.

Media Liaison: Provide communications support for responding to media enquiries. Coordinate and support WorldFish staff media interviews by researching and preparing briefing notes and attending and taking notes during meetings. Provide communications support in issuing press releases and organizing press conferences, including co-coordinating and attending press conferences, preparing relevant materials and providing information to members of the media as requested.

Online support: Contribute to the planning, design, and updating of information on the WorldFish/FISH websites, intranet (FishNet), MS Teams and social media platforms. Posts news releases, press conference videos, report launches and other newsworthy items on the website and social media as needed, in consultation with managers.

Performs other communications-related tasks, as assigned by their direct supervisor or the Director of Communications and Marketing.

Requirements

This job might be for you if you have these essential skills and qualifications:

Bachelor Degree in Communications / Marketing / Journalism or related field.

Ideally 5 years of working experience in journalism and or public relations/communications in the non-profit sector.

Excellent planning, organization and time management skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, including the ability to prepare and edit communications materials in line with the strategic vision and style of WorldFish.

Excellent research skills, including the ability to generate informative reports using software and traditional tools.

Excellent IT skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office and Adobe applications (primarily Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere and Lightroom) and social media tools will be considered an asset, as well as openness to experimenting with new digital communications technologies and programs.

Strong and effective team player, who actively promotes and supports colleagues with knowledge sharing, innovation and learning.
