Build positive relationships and collaborate with counterparts in supply chain functions to establish standard operating procedures, protocols, and tools that will maintain, monitor and verify food safety and quality along WFP supply chain.

Build positive relationships and partnerships with counterparts in other UN agencies, NGOs, governments, and companies to enhance WFP capacity to respond effectively to levels of undernutrition.

Keep current on emerging developments and groundbreaking research on the areas of food safety and quality and/or food product optimization in order to bring to bear the opportunities to incorporate industry-standard methodologies.

Act in an assigned emergency response capacity as required to meet emergency food assistance needs.

Advanced University degree in Food Technology, Health Sciences, Food Control, Nutrition or other related disciplines, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.

Minimum of five (5) years of postgraduate of relevant and progressive professional experience in food technology, food quality, food safety or any relevant fields.

Experience working in emergency response capacity.

Experience working with counterparts in Supply Chain.

Experience in monitoring and assessing food safety and quality issues.

Experience building strong external relationships.

Experience working on developing food assistance programmes.

Experience leading, coaching, mentoring and developing direct reports.


Fluency (level C) in both spoken and written English.

Intermediate knowledge (level B) of an official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese (WFP’s working language).


If you are selected for this position, you will be employed on a fixed-term contract with a probationary period of one year. This role is eligible for Rest and Recuperation (R&R) scheme.

Mobility is the essence of WFP and continues to be a core contractual requirement. These positions are rotational which means that you shall be subject to the regular reassignment process to any other location on a period of 2 to 4 years.
