The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.
Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative; and direct supervision of AFAOR (Programme) and the National Project Coordinator and the technical guidance of the Project Lead/Technical Officer
Technical guidance for site selection and zonation for shrimp farming and hatchery establishment;
Establish guidelines for good aquaculture practice for farming of new shrimp species;
Training material on shrimp farming of selected new shrimp species for farmers/ stakeholders;
Feasibility study report on farming of selected new shrimp species in saline area.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Site selection for marine shrimp& finfish hatchery and shrimp farms.
Hatchery design with cost estimation using local values.
Collect and synthesize up to date information and knowledge on farming systems and practices of major shrimp species in the region for sharing with the relevant stakeholders in Pakistan;
Participate and provide technical inputs to project workshops as needed;
Support the national team to conduct field survey and investigation for selection of suitable sites for shrimp farming in the country and develop aquaculture zonation map of Pakistan on the basis of habitats and ecology;
