Organisational Context:

The I nvestigation Division (ID), under the o ve rall management of its Director and management team, pr ovides the i nvestigati ve component of the integ rated team which conducts the Office ‚s i nvestigations and prosecutions under the responsibili ty of PD ‚s Senior Trial L aw ye r. ID recruits, t rains and monitors the performance of i nvestigators, analysts and data inputters within the integ rated team.

Speciali zed units within ID support the integ rated teams in the elabo ration and implementation of their plans and through advice and assistance in the conduct of ope rations. The Psychosocial Protection Center (PPC) which is situated within the Planning and Ope rations Section of I D, assists the teams with handling the psychological, social and medical components of witnesses.

Scope of services

The Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) is seeking experienced psychologists and psychiatrists (on an ad hoc and short-term basis) to conduct psycho-social assessments of potential witnesses the OTP would like to interview as part of the investigations into crimes which fall under the jurisdiction of the Court.

The Psycho-Social Adviser, under the supervision of the Head of Planning and Operations Section, will be expected to provide psychological support to investigation teams during field missions: Conduct psychosocial assessments of witnesses;
Provide psychological support;
Prepare psychosocial assessment reports;
Ensure the well-being of the witnesses during interviews and if necessary, make crisis intervention;
Identify NGOs, psychosocial facilities for (potential) witnesses support referrals; -

Identify issues and challenges regarding the medical, social and psychological support in Georgia;
Tags development strategies psychologist psychosocial sexual violence

Liaise with NGOs and local psychosocial services in coordination with the PPC.

Required Qualifications


The Psycho-Social Adviser should hold an advanced university degree in the field of Clinical/Forensic Psychology, Clinical Counselling or Psycho social studies or other related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience is accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree; Post graduate studies in psychological trauma, especially on children and victims of sexual violence would be considered an asset.

The successful candidates should have a minimum of two years (four years with a first level university degree) professional experience in dealing with vulnerable groups, such as victims of sexual violence and traumatized children. Field experience and experience working with the traumatized persons or conflict affected communities are required.

Knowledge of Languages: Proficiency in one of the working languages of the Court, French or English is required. Working knowledge of the other is considered an asset. Proficiency in Georgian is essential. Knowledge of another official language of the Court (Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Spanish) is considered an asset.
