You will be part of the Quantitative Risk Analysis Section of the SSM Risk Analysis Division in the Directorate General Microprudential Supervision IV. The Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM) is the system of banking supervision in Europe. It comprises the ECB and the national supervisory authorities of the participating countries. The SSM Risk Analysis Division and its Quantitative Risk Analysis Section monitor changes in the overall risk environment for banks, conducting in-depth analyses that cover a broad range of risk categories and topics. We raise issues where necessary and support the Joint Supervisory Teams in their supervisory activities. We regularly conduct microprudential stress tests and support other units by identifying and analysing trends, developments and emerging risks affecting multiple banks for further supervisory review. In addition, we conduct regular reviews of credit institutions‘ performance and risk profiles -‘ including horizontal analyses of exposures to certain types of risks or events -‘ as well as broader microprudential analyses and research on the banking sector. As a Supervisor in horizontal risk analysis, you will work on one or more of the following tasks:

conducting horizontal analyses of stress test results and quality assurance findings, identifying key drivers and producing the relevant reports;
identifying and explaining, on the basis of stress test and other data, risks and vulnerabilities of a horizontal nature;
ensuring a level playing field for the stress-testing exercises by providing a horizontal view across risks.

a master’s degree or equivalent in economics, finance, business administration, accountancy, statistics or another relevant field (for details on degree equivalences,;
three or more years of professional experience in the analysis of stress-testing data, gained at a regulatory authority, supervisory/competent authority, financial institution, international organisation or top-tier consultancy firm;
a sound knowledge of stress-testing methodologies;
an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages,


professional experience in the quality assurance of banks‘ bottom-up stress test calculations, peer benchmarking, horizontal data analysis, data processing, and creation of reports using databases;
experience in the development, implementation or validation of stress-testing models;
knowledge of relevant accounting frameworks (e.g. IFRS 9) and regulations (e.g. the Capital Requirements Regulation) and advanced programming skills (incl. knowledge of Tableau).

Selected candidates are seconded to the ECB by their current employer and must have a contract of employment with their current institution ending at least one year after the end of the proposed period of employment at the ECB.
