FAO’s office for Yemen is responsible for developing, promoting, overseeing and implementing agreed strategies for addressing countrywide food, agriculture and rural development priorities under Yemen. It develops and maintains relations with the relevant Ministries at country level. This position is based in FAO Representation in Sanaa, Yemen. The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner..
The Emergency Reporting Assistant reports to the Emergency Reporting and Outreach Specialist.
Support to formulation and implementation of FAO’s resilience agenda at global, regional, sub regional and/or country level.
Tasks and responsibilities
The Emergency Reporting Assistant will:
Assist in collecting, writing and editing progress, interim and final narrative reports for emergency and resilience projects of the Yemen programme, together with accompanying cover letters and project highlights, in accordance with FAO Reporting and Editorial Guidelines.
Assist in the revision, finalization and timely submission of key resource mobilization documents to ensure alignment to FAO standards the requirements of major donors.
Write and edit various other documents in English relevant to the work of FAO in emergencies and resilience, including project proposals, brochures, leaflets, situation reports, presentations, etc., ensuring as appropriate alignment with FAO style and FAO NOCs.
Assist Communications unit in the development of products with accurate information and data.
Assist the Communications unit in identifying places to highlight donor-specific communications opportunities.
Assist the Communications unit and programme unit in adhering to donor communications requirements.
Liaise with Finance and Operations unit colleagues to ensure accuracy and timeliness of reporting schedule.
Perform other related duties, as requested;
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Education: Four-year degree/BA
Experience: Four-years of experience in reporting or project management and familiarity with budgets, finance, human resources, or other administrative areas that have exposure to reporting
Working knowledge of English and limited knowledge of Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish (knowledge of Arabic is preferred)
