THE WORLD BANK GROUP’S VISION AND STRATEGY

The WBG consists of five specialized institutions: The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), the International Development Association (IDA), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), and the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID).
GLOBAL CORPORATE SOLUTIONS
Reporting to the Managing Director and World Bank Group CAO, the Global Corporate Solutions Department brings together the functions of corporate security, corporate real estate, and corporate services, such as travel, conferences, and multimedia.
ABOUT THE CORPORATE REAL ESTATE DIVISION
The Corporate Real Estate Division (GCSCR) of the World Bank Group supports the IBRD, IDA, and MIGA, in realizing and executing their real estate needs worldwide. It is the key interlocutor between Senior Management, operational management and staff of IBRD, IDA, MIGA, and ICSID. GCSCR’s primary purpose is to create strategic, cost effective, functional, efficient and safe real estate solutions for its clientele.
To achieve its purpose, GCSCR led by the Senior Manager is structured into 3 units: (I) HQ Real Estate Development & Management (GCSHQ) and (II) Global Real Estate Development & Management (GCSIR) and (III) Global Strategy and Planning.
GCSCR is seeking to fill the role of Manager of HQ Real Estate Development & Management unit that will oversee two main sub-units: 1.Strategic Planning & Leasing, which is responsible for the Bank’s over all real estate strategy as well as the management of the leasehold properties in Washington.
2.Facilities Construction, Operations & Maintenance, which is responsible for all the design, construction property management and plant operations of all the Bank’s facilities in Washington.
Duties and Accountabilities
Business Management (including: Strategy, implementation, budget management and quality control)
Manages the Strategic Planning & Leasing sub-unit and the Facilities Construction, Operations & Maintenance sub-unit.Provides leadership to HQ Real Estate Development & Management on its role of providing innovative strategic and cost-effective solutions to the World Bank’s real estate requirements.Plans and delivers the yearly HQ Real Estate Development & Management work program making effective use of each team’s member skills and strengths.Manages the unit’s budget, promote value and cost efficiencies for an annual spend of between $40 and $50 million in administrative funds, and from $10 to $15 million in capital expenditure.Leads the implementation of real estate strategies to support The Bank’s efforts in operating a more cost effective and efficient Institution.Manages the day to day operations of the unit.Pursue and encourage continuous improvement and technical and process innovation.Contributes to the effective management of GCSCR and to the management team.

Delivers the agreed work program through effective use of resources (human and budget) within the agreed parameters and ensures the timely delivery and overall quality of the unit’s outputs.Ensures that appropriate internal control and compliance policies and procedures are in place and being followed with respect to meeting the WBG’s fiduciary and safeguard policies and guidelines, as well as the Division’s own quality control processes.Contributes to budget discussions and secures the appropriate budget for the unitDevelops an appropriate risk management framework to ensure that the Division’s strategic objectives are met.
Relationship Management accountabilities (Internal and External):
Under the leadership of the Senior Manager, Corporate Real Estate, establishes and maintains strategic relationships and engagements with other parts of the Bank Group, as well as external partners to enable constructive and strategically focused real estate solutions.Building and maintaining excellent partnerships within Regional management, as well as with other relevant Bank Group units to ensure that HQ Real Estate Development & Management responds to client requests in an integrated, timely, and coherent manner and that substantive analytical work is conducted throughout the process.Collaborates with WBG senior leadership teams as required regarding matters that influence The Bank’s global footprint.Encourages innovation within the unit and ensures the dissemination of new approaches to products and solutions, drawing on best practices.Leads HQ Real Estate Development & Management in its effort regarding corporate social responsibility and sustainability.Builds and manages relationships, including negotiation (where relevant) with external entities such as landlords, architectural and engineering firms, real estate brokers, law firms, and the like.
Masters degree in a relevant discipline (i.e. Architecture, Engineering, Business Management) and at least 12 years substantial professional in positions of increasing complexity and responsibility or equivalent combination of qualification and experience).Excellent understanding of the Bank Group’s internal operating environment.Sound business acumen, as well as thorough knowledge of Bank Group policies, programs, and procedures, with demonstrated results in delivering programs worldwide.Outstanding interpersonal, diplomatic and partnership skills required for building and maintaining collaborative relationships with senior management, government officials, partners and other stakeholders.Strong communication skills, including the ability to speak persuasively and present ideas clearly and concisely.Superior level of resourcefulness, ability to work with considerable autonomy as well as willingness to work under pressure and through the whole spectrum of activities from the strategic level to the resolution of specific implementation issues.Demonstrated strategic thinking skills and ability to engage in a substantive dialogue on complex issues and corporate priorities.Experience in innovating, translating ideas into action plans and delivering results.
