ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
WFP is committed to growing private sector fundraising with a focus on scaling up Individual Giving revenue. Individual Giving is recognized as a fundraising source that has been successfully used by other UN agencies to generate the bulk of their private sector income. Additionally, Individual Giving can provide a high proportion of unrestricted income which is critical to supporting the long-term goals of country strategic plans (CSPs).
The focus is a digital-first strategy, working through a centralised global team recruiting supporters primarily through digital channels and building an outstanding supporter experience through a multi channel loyalty programme.
In the first year of the new growth strategy the Roma HQ IG team recruited c130k new supporters (both regular monthly givers and single givers), from over 130 countries primarily through digital advertising with some local DRTV testing. With annual income more than quadrupled from $3m in FY19 to $12m in FY20. But the growth ambitions go far beyond this.The team have also recently onboarded a global supporter experience agency who enable a truly multi channel approach to deepening connections supporters have with WFP and building loyalty. The tech stack supporting this activity is solid with platforms such as Marketing Cloud and Tableau in place to enable a strong data driven supporter experience programme. While we will offer a range of channels to deepen supporters email remains likely to be our main communicaiton channel with plenty of opportunity to really enhance and improve our existing offering.
PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
This role will play a critical part in our supporter experience (SX) team by improving how all our email activity contributes to building a best in class supporter experience and drive stronger engagement and loyalty rates. The role will be comfortable developing onboarding journeys/annual calendar-based email communications plans as well as running ongoing testing and optimization activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
For the development, delivery and execution of the email fundraising component of WFPs Supporter Experience offer
To review and optimise 2021 plans and identify areas for development linked to increased performance and income
Review the WFP data segmentation model in align with the email marketing programme and make recommendations on email communications and engagement
Work closely with Global Content and Supporter journey consultant to ensure the content needs of the email, SMS, messenger programme is sufficiently met, in terms of content gathering and production
Look at how best WFP could use email/SMS/messenger as an non-financial / engagement tool and the best tools/technics/approach to deepening the connection we have with donors through this main communications channel
Develop a testing roadmap for 2021 and beyond for email marketing aimed at optimising performance across a number of core metrics
Mentor members of the SX team to increase their email marketing knowledge base and skillset
Establish a monitoring and evaluation process for email marketing, so learnings are capture and the effectiveness of the programme is continuously being measuring and optimised
Review and make recommendations on the rollout of two new fundraising marketing channels - SMS & Messenger
Keep abreast if industry developments and incorporate them into the WFP programme
Develop the 2022 email marketing strategy

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Work history
Tags fundraising monitoring and evaluation tableau trainings
At least 5 year’s progressive experience running email marketing in a fundraising or marketing environment.
Non for profit and/or commercial experience
Experience of strategic planning of email programmes with good tactical hands on experience of testing and optimization, preference of working on global email programmes
Education
Desirable experience
Advanced University degree in marketing, or other relevant field - or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings.
Had some experience planning and delivering SMS and messenger (incl. WhatsApp) marketing/fundraising strategies
Familiar with Facebook ad manager and has some knowledge of deploying paid Facebook advertising
Preferable Experience of working on Marketing Cloud

Languages
