The newly established UNICEF Country Office in Greece is expanding its mandate to cover a wide area of programmatic interventions and partnerships with government entities, local governance, independent authorities, civil society, the private sector and youth. The Office seeks to strengthen its Communication Section with the addition of a Communication Associate to support media partnerships, press office duties, awareness raising campaigns and initiatives and management of digital platforms, including the Office’s official website and social media platforms.

How can you make a difference?

The incumbent will be required to complete the following expected key tasks:

Support the drafting, translation, placement and dissemination of press releases, statements, talking points, announcements

Establish and maintain a close relationship with key media stakeholders

Facilitate international and national media requests including providing field support during media visits

Pitch innovative ideas for engaging social media content, prioritizing the amplification of the voices of children and youth, working with relevant colleagues to assess feasibility.

Support the production of multimedia assets (photos, videos and infographics) for use on digital and social media platforms, working with graphic designers and photo/video producers, including sharing assets to UNICEF’s regional and global platforms for amplification.

Maintain press contact lists and media/communication partners (journalists, key influencers, advocates, etc.)

Maintain communication vendor records and budget overview

Produce monthly communication reports of undertaken initiatives, including digital analytics.

Support official website population and maintenance

Upload all multimedia assets on global UNICEF platforms and maintain internal asset libraries

Support press conference/event organization

Undertake any further tasks related to the Office’s Communication and Advocacy functions

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have...

Education: Completion of secondary education is required, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses related to the field of work.

Required Experience and Skills:

A minimum of 6 years experience working on a press office environment or managing media relations for a UN Agency, Civil Society Organization, multinational company or media/publishing outlet.

Fluency in Greek and English.

Desired Experience:

Technical skills in producing original content and managing digital platforms (website, social media).

Very strong, and proven, editorial and writing capabilities in English and Greek.

Experience working in an emergency context, including direct interaction with children and families.

Experience working with Drupal.

Knowledge of graphic design (Adobe Photoshop) is highly desirable.

Experience working for the UN could be considered an asset.
