Organizational Setting

The Office of Evaluation (OED) of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) undertakes a range of different evaluations. OED has a team of more than 40 evaluators, leading and managing approximately 50 evaluations per year. All evaluation reports and management responses are public documents, and are made available on the OED website.

FAO is currently undergoing a restructuring and revamping of its corporate website and digital communications, to reflect the new strategic framework. This is why OED wishes to embrace the momentum and enhance its presence online, to increase the use of evaluation reports and knowledge material produced, as well as to make it more easily accessible to FAO Members and stakeholders.

Reporting Lines

The consultant will report to the OED Evaluation Officer and will be supervised by the Evaluation Outreach Specialist.

Tasks and responsibilities

Assessing the current status of the fao.org/evaluation webpage, proposing a logical, effective and user friendly way of presenting evaluation content and products, with a focus on the user’s needs. Proposing communication efforts and new structure to reflect the growing portfolio of Emergency and Resilience evaluations and Decentralization.

Designing and delivering communications to visually show a summary of evaluation contents to increase OED’s transparency, awareness and visibility of evaluations among key stakeholder groups and audiences, and improve performance.

Tasks :

Review and assess current website mapping to current evaluation outputs and communication needs considering the evaluation stakeholders and users‘ needs

Propose new website structure, organization, and content and communication tools in collaboration with CSI to best address needs identified to increase accessibility, visibility, and use of evaluation material on website;
Propose layout and design in collaboration with OCC for document repository to present evaluation reports and products in a user-friendly way using current CMS;
Develop and coordinate content and implement agreed on communication and digital tools in a user-friendly, effective and appealing way.

As appropriate, develop infographics and a customized digital dashboard.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

University degree in Digital communication, social studies, IT, Economics, Development studies

7 years of relevant experience in assessing and designing websites for international organizations/ companies, with large sectoral and specialized audiences;
Working knowledge of English and limited knowledge of one of the other FAO languages (French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian) for Consultants. Working knowledge of English is sufficient for PSA.SBS.

Selection Criteria

Excellent analysis, web technologies and digital communication skills;
Experience in designing, planning and implementing user focused website;
Reading knowledge in other official FAO languages will be an asset.

Previous experience in creating strategies with existing web technologies for FAO, in Typo3 CSM and in updating existing complex websites;
Knowledge of FAO’s guidelines, mandate and work.
