Under the general guidance of the MENARO Health Specialist (Regional Polio Coordinator) and in close collaboration with the MENARO C4D and communications advisors, the incumbent will be working as a member of the Incident Management Support Team (IMST), and he/she will be deployed to polio outbreak countries, as a member of Team A, according to IMST working plan and GPEI outbreak SOPs. The incumbent will be responsible for the design, management, execution, monitoring and evaluation of behavior change and social mobilization activities in support of the country programmes, with a specific focus on support to areas of communication for polio eradication and for generating demand for and uptake of immunization services and will work on other health interventions as needed.

Support to C4D strategy design and development
Implementation of C4D activities
Technical and operational support
Advocacy, networking, Coordination and partnership building
Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building
Communication (external) and Media Engagement
Specific Technical Knowledge Required
Knowledge of current developments in the fields of: communication theory, motivational psychology, adult learning theory, indigenous media, community organization and participation, strategic communication planning, behaviour analysis, formative research and evaluation of communication interventions.
Knowledge of inter-disciplinary approach in programme development and implementation in behaviour and social change communication, social mobilization and behavioural change.
Knowledge of and experience in emergency operations and management.
Knowledge and experience to organize and implement training, including development of curricula and methodologies.
Computer knowledge, skills and practical experience, including internet navigation, network, telecommunications and various office applications.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have...
Advanced university degree in communication for development or other social/behavioral sciences (Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Health Education) or related area, with emphasis on participatory communication, communication planning, social mobilization, participatory research. A relevant Bachelors degree may be accepted with an additional 2 years of relevant work experience in lieu of an advanced degree.
A minimum of eight years progressively responsible work experience in communication for development, the planning and management of social communication programmes, including in immunization/polio. Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Arabic is of added value.
