The Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications implements the IAEA’s Major Programme 2, "Nuclear Techniques for Development and Environmental Protection". This Major Programme comprises individual programmes on food and agriculture, human health, water resources, environment and radiation technologies. These programmes are supported by laboratories in Seibersdorf, Monaco and Vienna. The Major Programme’s objective is to enhance the capacity of Member States to meet basic human needs and to assess and manage the marine and terrestrial environments through the use of nuclear and isotopic techniques in sustainable development programmes.
The purpose of the consultancy is to provide strategic advice and expertise on planning and resource mobilization to the Deputy Director General of the Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications (NA). The Consultant will work together with staff both in the Offier of the Deputy Director General and Divisions within the Department.
Functions / Key Results Expected
Develop resource mobilization documents for the ZODIAC (ZOonotic DIsease Integrated ACtion) Project, the NUTEC (NUclear TEChnology for Controlling Plastic Pollution) Project and other initiatives
Develop and coordinate joint resource mobilization proposals with NA Divisions
Identify and advise on innovative partnership opportunities with key stakeholders and contribute to bilateral discussions with potential partners
Analyze and advise DDG-NA on donors‘ priorities and interests, resource mobilization trends and opportunities
Provide advice to outreach and partnership initiatives developed in the department with inter-Governmental, bilateral, multilateral, non-government bodies and the private sector.
Undertake empirical research and analysis of trends of research and development issues related to nuclear technologies and their applications to priority areas within the IAEA’s mandates and propose adjustments to NA strategy/programmes

Qualifications and Experience
Advanced University Degree in economics, political sciences, international relations or public administration.
Five years of relevant experience in the areas of resource mobilization, partnership building and strategic planning.
Experience working with or in international organizations.
Good communication skills.
Excellent oral and written command of English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.
The remuneration for this consultancy is a daily fee of up to a maximum of 250, based on qualifications and experience. In case duty travel is required within the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs are provided. Health coverage and pension fund are the responsibility of the incumbent.
