The incumbent may be re-assigned to different activities and/or duty stations depending on the evolving needs of the Organization
FAO Partnership and Liaison Office in Azerbaijan has a diverse portfolio of projects and activities to support the Government Counterparts in Azerbaijan in addressing challenges related to sustainable transformation of agri-food systems and management of natural resources. The programme assistant will be expected to support assigned projects and other related activities to contribute to the achievement of FAO’s programmatic goals in the country.

Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative (FAOR) in Azerbaijan, programmatic supervision of Assistant FAOR and direct supervision of relevant Program/Operations Specialist and in close collaboration with the staff of the Office, technical experts and project personnel (national and international consultants) as well as project counterparts, the Programme Assistant will: Tasks and responsibilities:
Support implementation of designated projects;
Liaise between FAO experts, national project teams and the respective beneficiary ministries and institutions;
Assist in the implementation of project’s activities according to the approved workplan;
Coordinate communication with national, local and community-based counterparts, supporting the dissemination of information, ensuring ownership of stakeholders and participation of the beneficiaries;
Provide administrative support for the arrangements for workshops, trainings, seminars, recruitment of national consultants and organization of field days as required according to the workplan;
Assist in all administrative duties and financial management of program, following FAO standard procedures and requirements;
Assist in the timely implementation of procurement actions and contracts according to FAO procedures;
Provide administrative support for field missions;
Support the overall monitoring of programme through providing necessary inputs on a regular basis;
Facilitate communication between FAO and government institutions, donors, partners using or translating from/into local language when necessary;
Prepare draft minutes of meetings and finalize them through collecting inputs in a timely manner;
Perform other duties as required
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
University degree on agronomy, economics, MBA, environmental or social sciences, international relations or from relevant departments
Fluency in written and spoken in English and Azerbaijani; Russian may be considered an asset.
National of Azerbaijan or resident in the country with a regular work permit.
2 years of working experience in similar assignments (project/program management)
