The Division of Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Waste Technology (NEFW) comprises the Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Materials Section, the Waste Technology Section, the Decommissioning & Environmental Remediation Section and the Research Reactor Section. The Division seeks to support Member States in building their capacity to access technologies, to share good practices and to develop safe and effective approaches across all aspects of research reactors, nuclear fuel cycle, decommissioning, radioactive waste management and environmental remediation.
The consultant will provide technical expertise to the Director NEFW in ensuring high quality subject analysis and develops key briefing notes and fact sheets on the technical topics within the domain of the division for policy makers.
The consultant will research and analyse, review of publications and various reports, internal documents, and develops briefing notes, executive summaries and fact sheets on the technical topics within the domain of the division.
Functions / Key Results Expected
In the fields of fuel cycle, waste management, decommissioning, environmental remediation, and research reactors, the Consultant will:
Perform subject analysis of the contents of publications of the IAEA, various reports, internal documents, open sources
Verify and provide technical expertise on the quality of the subject analysis and abstracts and synthetize state of the art information.
Develops briefing notes and fact sheets on the technical topics aimed at policy makers or Agency’s senior management within the domain of the division.
Prepare presentations and technical documents for NEFW meetings and training programmes.
Tags good practices international law international relations nuclear fuel cycle political science public administration radioactive waste management subsistence allowance training programmes waste management
Prepare practice guide on writing executive summaries.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Qualifications and Experience
University degree in international law, political science, international relations, public administration, or related fields.
Minimum two years of direct relevant professional experience, preferably in international organizations, in the areas of policy/strategy planning, coordination and external relations.
Expertise in analysis of the contents of publications, correcting errors and/or re-index documents.
Excellent oral and written command of English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.
The remuneration for this consultancy is a daily fee of up to a maximum of 150, based on qualifications and experience. In case duty travel is required within the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs are provided. Health coverage and pension fund are the responsibility of the incumbent.
