Mission and objectives

UNICEF is a leading humanitarian and development agency working globally for the rights of every child. Child rights begin with safe shelter, nutrition, protection from disaster and conflict and traverse the life cycle: pre-natal care for healthy births, clean water and sanitation, health care and education. UNICEF has spent nearly 70 years working to improve the lives of children and their families. Working with and for children through adolescence and into adulthood requires a global presence whose goal is to produce results and monitor their effects. UNICEF also lobbies and partners with leaders, thinkers and policy makers to help all children realize their rights, especially the most disadvantaged.


The Project team within the HRBP team creates consistency and efficiency in the design, development, implementation and monitoring of activities, initiatives, and programs for the HRBP teams in support of the HR Strategy. The UNV will contribute to HR efficiencies and effectiveness initiatives for HR transformation through innovative thinking, analysis of available data and application of knowledge. The UN Youth Volunteer will be under the supervision of the HRBP, DHR Project Team.

Task description

1. Use effective data collection tools & methodologies to accurately compile and analyse data for knowledge sharing; advise on the best use of different data platforms such InSight, HR Dashboards, staff core data, talent management system, VISION etc. 2. Serve as a focal point to support the roll out of Learning & Development’s key initiatives and programs, compile data regarding these initiatives for information sharing. 3. Develop and maintain content on the HRBP team collaboration site for knowledge sharing. 4. Responsible for maintaining the schedule for the different HRBP team meetings, communicate agendas and act as rapporteur in such meetings. 5. Produce creative content and communication materials on different HR processes such as self-help videos, create SOPs, charts and workflows and creating engaging presentations for briefings. 6. Support recruitment processes for Divisions as needed and work together with HR business partners in managing recruitment activities such as screening applications, creating shortlists, liaising with candidates, and administering the assessment process. 7. Support HRBPs in creating recruitment plans and outreach strategies. 8. Help HRBPs navigate the HR Dashboards in generating customized reports as needed. 9. Support the Chiefs HRBP in establishing and organizing the annual workplan for the HRBP team. 10. Responsible for maintaining and monitoring the learning calendar for the HRBP team in close coordination with the supervisor. 11. Any other tasks, as required

Eligibility criteria

Age: 18 - 26


Candidate must be a national of a country other than the country of assignment.


Required experience

2 years of experience in Human resource management in an international organization is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English is required. Knowledge of a second UN language (i.e. Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is a distinct advantage. Knowledge of a range of HR metrics and ability to skillfully work with data analytics and create graphs and charts. Excellent organization skills with ability to manage projects, multitask and prioritize effectively. An understanding of how UNICEF functions and some knowledge of the HR systems, policies and procedures. Knowledge of SharePoint and experience in drafting compelling and visually appealing content is required. Data analysis, production of creative and visually appealing content for HR Processes, effective communication skills is highly desirable.

Living conditions and remarks

The contract can be extended depending on continuation of mandate, availability of funding, operational necessity, and satisfactory performance. However, there is no expectancy of renewal of the assignment.
