Job Description

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Partnership and Communications Specialist, the Policy and Communications Analyst contributes to designing and implementing of advocacy strategies towards key target audiences tightly linked to UNDP program priorities; positions the organization as a leader in ways that boost demand for various service lines and increase overall business opportunities; pursuing new, innovative partnerships with new development actors, providing analysis and insights on Swedish development policy and other policy areas and supports overall resource mobilization and partnership efforts.
The Policy and Communications Analyst works in close collaboration with staff in the Nordic Representation Office, HQ, and other UNDP teams, as well as staff of other UN Agencies, Government officials, national and international media, multilateral and bilateral donors, civil society, and other key stakeholders. The Policy and Communications Analyst may supervise support staff of the Unit.
Position Purpose:
The Policy and Communications Analyst will lead efforts on partnership building and strategic communication, including strategic outreach to key target audiences such as decision-makers and the private sector.
Duties and Responsibilities
Contribute to the formulation and implementation of advocacy strategies towards key target audiences
Conduct communications needs assessments towards key target audiences, including decision-makers and the private sector
Contribute with briefing material for key events, missions, and meetings
Design advocacy strategies and projects
Coordinate, adapt and implement corporate strategies to engage key target audiences
Support, advise and contribute to Nordic advocacy and media strategies and plans towards key target audiences
Support resource mobilization and partnership efforts
Support the drafting of resource mobilization applications in order to secure external funding
Support partnership efforts with potential and existing donors as well as with other relevant actors
Support the coordination between UNDP and Government counterparts
Support communications outreach on results of key partnerships
Contribute to analysis and reporting
Contribute with timely and updated analyses of political trends affecting UNDP operations, including Swedish ODA policy
Author reports and other material to UNDP HQ
Support other UNDP Units with the latest intelligence on Swedish ODA policy and other relevant policy areas
Raise awareness and knowledge among key target audiences
Design and implement relevant learning opportunities for key target audiences, including decision-makers and the private sector
Coordinate briefings and learning opportunities for key target audiences
Coordinate annual study trips for decision-makers and other key target audiences
Facilitation of knowledge building and management
Contributes to the identification, documentation and drafting of best practices and lessons learned
Organization of training for staff as needed.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
Master’s degree in relevant field of international relations, development studies, social science, or related field
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of work experience required in the field of communication and advocacy with excellent understanding of Sweden’s political landscape and multilateral ODA policy agenda
Professional editing and copywriting skills, including articles, reports, social media content, press releases, briefing notes
Proven ability to work on deadline
Proven ability to successfully secure funding for communications and advocacy projects from external partners and donors
Proven ability to plan, organize and implement high-level events and trainings, including international study trips
Ability to manage Sida funded communications and advocacy projects, including monitoring and evaluation and reporting is considered an asset
Language Requirement:
Fluency in English and Swedish is required
Fluency in another UN language is an asset
