UN City Copenhagen is made up of two premises. The current job opening is at Campus 1 on Marmorvej. The building was inaugurated in 2013 with the ambition of being as environment friendly as possible. It was successful awarded the platinum LEED certificate because of its energy reducing features and intelligent design.

Currently the building host 1,600 staff of more than 100 nationalities working for 11 different UN entities. It is an ever changing, dynamic and multicultural workplace. It is a meeting point for organisations, officials and private sector working and collaborating to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Approximately 20,000 people visit the building every year to attend conferences or various workshops.

The building maintenance of the external structural parts of the building and internal fixed installation is managed by an external party. The rest is managed by the Common Services. The Building Maintenance team is part of the Common Service Team led by the Administrative Associate/Team Leader.

Under the direct supervision of the Team Leader/Administrative Associate, the Building Maintenance Clerk provides reliable and timely building maintenance services to the UN City. The person is expected to be client-oriented approach, proactive with, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

Duties and Responsibilities

Ensures maintenance of the UN City Campus 1 premises.

Documents service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.

Assists in development and implementation of sustainable building maintenance program, including proper waste management system.

Performs minor building maintenance services and respond to ad hoc requests.

Inspects electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.

Maintains inventory of repair equipment and supplies, and order new equipment as needed.

Reports to the Administrative Associate/Team Leader on building maintenance issues to be discussed with the owner or users.

Performs routine preventative and predictive maintenance on systems and equipment.

Performs inspections of the premises on a regular basis to determine need for repair and maintenance activities.

Tests generators for safety compliance as necessary.

Performs other maintenance duties as required.

Ensures kitchen appliances and office machines proper functioning.

Ensures kitchen appliances and office machines are well functioning.

Responds to customers‘ requests in a timely manner.

Ensures timely response and assistance in event organization.

Receives staff requests and complaints related to the building maintenance and meeting room setup issues.

Makes agreements for more complex repairs as appropriate through external sources if necessary.

Prepares meeting rooms with supplies needed and keeps supply inventory updated.

Performs receipt function for deliveries.

Responsible of conference rooms setup and maintenance, including furniture move from/to storage in a timely manner.

Ad hoc tasks as assigned.

Ensures timely staff safety measures implementation.

Regularly conducts inspections of the UN CITY premises to document and report unsafe conditions.

Ensures that all logistical and administrative tasks with other agencies are handled with care.

Required Skills and Experience

Education

Secondary Education is required.

Valid category B Driver’s license is required. BE to DE categories is an advantage.

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience.

Good knowledge of administrative rules and regulations.

Excellent knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods.

Proficiency in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools.

Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, carpentry techniques and methods of installation and other systems.

Hands on experience in one or more of the following: plumbing, painting, tiling, plastering, carpentry or similar.

Experience in the usage of computers, office software packages (MS Word, Excel) is required.

Experience with building maintenance, HVAC, electrical and other technological systems is an asset.

Knowledge and experience in using and setting up AV systems is an advantage.

Knowledge of protocol and security issues is desired.

Language requirements (Required/Desired)

Fluency in written and spoken English is required.

Working knowledge of Danish is desired.
