The UNDP Belarus Communications Unit is hiring a Communications Associate, who will work under the supervision and guidance of the Communications Analyst. The Communications Associate will support with the design and implementation of the UNDP Belarus visibility and engagement strategies, help increase the standing and awareness of what UNDP is doing in Belarus with partners, beneficiaries and general public, support and facilitate partnership opportunities and communication innovations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Communications Analyst, the Communications Associate will work closely with UNDP programme and project teams, UNDP AccLab team, communication staff from other UN agencies and partners organizations, media.

The Communications Associate will:

Support the implementation of UNDP Belarus communications and outreach strategies in the context of UNDP Strategic Plan 2022-25.

Identify new communication opportunities and occasions that highlight UNDP’s work /support to the local communities and partners on the country, regional and global levels.

Lead on and manage design, editing and packaging communication content and knowledge products for UNDP’s CO website.

Develop stories (human-focused and corporate feature stories) on UNDP’s development interventions

Contribute innovative vision on maintaining and expanding UNDP’s ecosystem on digital communication channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) by drafting compelling and engaging social media content.

Assist in drafting and accompanying production process of UNDP Belarus‘ knowledge and information products, including UNDP Belarus Annual Report.

Ensure media coverage of priority issues and important public events and undertake appropriate follow-up action (monitoring, analyzing and suggesting action points) on the impact of coverage, explore opportunities and risks.

Coordinate with UNDP projects communication and programme staff to collect materials and data for the corporate communication and knowledge management products, such as UNDP Belarus Annual Report, policy and programme briefs, TPs etc.

Coordinate and organize regular meetings with project communication people to update on strategies, planning, joint actions, sensitivity and positioning, as well as other key updates.

Support in providing UNDP content for the UN RCO communication and knowledge management materials and platforms, including the UN’s website in Belarus.

Support in implementation of joint UN campaigns, and International day in terms of coordination, logistics, events organization.

Take lead in organizing public events and campaigns, including media-focused events, to ensure sustained visibility across all UNDP’s strategic thematic areas.

Support in launch of key UNDP global and country knowledge products (such as Human Development Report, UNDP Belarus Annual Report, etc.).

Support in management of UNDP corporate visibility items and goods design and production.

Institutional Arrangement:

The direct supervisor for the Communications Associate is the UNDP CO Communications Analyst.

Required Skills and Experience


Secondary education

Bachelor degree equivalent in one of the following fields: communication, journalism, public relations, international relations, and/or related field would be desired but it is not a requirement.


At least 4 years of relevant experience in communications & innovation public relations and outreach fields. Practical experience in Communication for development.


Outstanding writing and editing skills in Russian

Outstanding writing and editing skills in English

Knowledge of Belarusian is an additional asset

Desired Skills:

Work experience with international organization, non-governmental development organization, business, confirmed by CV is an asset.

Travel: During the assignment, the Communications Associate may be required to undertake duty travels.
