The United Nations Development Coordination Office (DCO) serves as the secretariat for the UN Sustainable Development Group (UNSDG)-40 agencies, funds and programmes working on development-at the regional and global levels.
At the regional level, five UN Development Coordination Office Regional Directors and their teams in Panama, Addis Ababa, Amman, Istanbul and Bangkok provide Resident Coordinators with regional-specific support, with a secretariat role for the UN Sustainable Development Group.
At the global level the UN SDG is chaired by the Deputy Secretary-General. The Vice-Chair is the UN Development Programme (UNDP) Administrator.
This position is located in UNDCO/CBSS at Headquarters in New York. The Project Management Analyst reports to Global Lead for the Business Operations Strategy (BOS) and works collaboratively with Sr. Change Management Advisor on matters pertaining to Knowledge Management.
This post will be administered by UNDP on behalf of UNDCO.
Position Purpose:
The role of the Project Management Analyst will be to assist in the delivery of UNSDG targets and objectives to scale up high impact common services under the BOS 2.0. The Analyst will leverage the experience and expertise of UN Operations Management Teams (OMTs) to evaluate the progress of BOS implementation and identify and report on high impact and low impact services from existing BOSes. In doing so, the Analyst will analyze data, suggest standardized approaches for high impact services, prepare success stories, undertake outreach activities, conduct training workshops and provide substantive inputs to consultative meetings in support of the delivery of UNSDG Efficiency Agenda targets for the BOS.
Duties and Responsibilities: Plan, identify and analyze standardized approaches for high impact common services for scaling through BOS 2.0
Analyze high impact common services such as HR roster and procurement data from select BOS;
Recommend a scaling up approach to apply to other BOS based on best practices emerging from BOS with high impact common services;
Identify and report high impact and low impact services from the existing BOS;
Engage OMTs in utilization of the high impact services in their BOS;
Organize interaction with the OMTs to engage OMTs in utilization of the high impact services in their BOS;
Coordinate development of practice notes for high impact common services
Prepare success stories from the implementation of the BOS at the country level;
Seek inputs from members of country OMTs, UNCTs and HQ interagency staff to draft and finalize practice notes;
Develop training modules and workshops with experts;
Identify appropriate modality for knowledge sharing on high impact common services among UN OMTs;
Performs knowledge sharing activities, in collaboration with the CBSS team, by planning workshops, other interactive sessions and assisting in developing the SDG knowledge portal.
Monitors and analyzes BOS 2.0 development and implementation
Example of Duties: Reviews relevant documents and reports;
Identify and report high impact and low impact services from the existing BOS;
Identifies problems and issues to be addressed and proposes corrective actions;
Identifies and tracks follow-up actions.
Analyze data, engage with OMTs virtually and report on progress of the BOS at output, outcome and impact level
Identify and report lessons learns and best practices from the review for broader use and reference by the 131 UN Country Teams;
Coordinate the interlinkage between the OMTs, Expert Agencies and DCO on optimization of the high impact services.
Provides substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, contributing data and analytical findings, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc.
Undertakes survey initiatives, designs data collection tools and reports analyzes as appropriate
Researches, analyzes and presents information gathered from diverse sources;
Interprets survey responses, identifies problems/issues and prepares conclusions;
Undertakes outreach activities and conducts training workshops, seminars, etc.;
Makes presentations on assigned topics/activities.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics or a related field;
A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
At least 2 years for those with a Master’s Degree and 4 years if First Level University Degree of professional working experience in the field of international affairs, preferably working with UN Secretariat entities and UN Agencies, Funds and Programmes.
Demonstrated experience in knowledge management, communications and organizational learning.
Experience in operating within UN Joint Programmes, inter-agency coordination and liaison
Proven ability to carry out high-quality research and analysis.
Excellent writing skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Non-Smoking environment
Language Requirement:
Proficiency in English is required
Working knowledge of at least one other UN language is desirable
