Organizational Setting
The Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia (REU) is responsible for leading FAO’s response to regional priorities for food security, agriculture and rural development through the identification, planning and implementation of FAO’s priority activities in the region. REU also provides services to employees throughout the region in administration, financial, human resources management, procurement and information technology related matters. The position is located in the Regional Office in Budapest, Hungary.
Reporting Lines
The IT Specialist reports to the Information Technology Officer, REUX.
Technical Focus
Contribution to the effective operation of information technology services. Provide technical expertise for the development, implementation, management, and support of systems and networks. Planning and implementation of complex assignments and new methods and approaches in a wide variety of IT specialties.
Tasks and responsibilities
Support and supervise special or non-standard infrastructure related requests, works in regional and project offices
Ensure user access to the corporate/ divisional/ departmental IT infrastructure (servers, printers, SharePoint, Teams groups and other resources) and works together with related FAO units and projects
Manage divisional / departmental shared drives, public folders, distributions lists, SharePoint and Teams sites
Set up services according to established policies and procedures (e.g., user accounts, memberships, access profiles, file share security, meeting rooms)
Manage and monitor network, devices (Meraki, APs, core switches, etc), links in the regional, country and project office as per CSI policy
Carry out periodic tests of the network (LAN, WAN), videoconference and AV equipment with all the REU offices, meeting rooms
Advise and assist in cloud related services: AWS, Azure, Intune, ServiceNow, cloud printing, VoIP, etc
Provide full AV support to local, virtual and hybrid meetings and closely works with all participants and help coordinate repairs, maintenance and service interruptions, travel to locations as required
Support in the administration, maintenance and operation of physical security equipment
Deploy and configure hardware and software, including non-standard equipment that has been cleared for use as per established policies and procedures; assist in implementing procedures for data storage, backups and transfer
Provide full support for end-users to resolve infrastructure, hardware, software and application issues, operate, troubleshoot and assist users accordingly
Provide guidance on current and new IT services to the users, log and track user requests, produce reports on request
Keep up to date description, inventory and track of all the assets and services under his supervision, projects
Support all form of teleworking (remotely help and educate users if needed), analyse requests for assistance to review what can be improved and develop guides, guidelines and make proposals
Advise and assist ICT planning in line with CSI guidelines and standards
Perform other related duties as required.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
University degree OR technical/vocational training (certificate) in Information Technology, System Administration, or a related field
Seven years of relevant experience in Information Technology, System Administration, or a related field
Working knowledge (level C) of English
