Organizational Setting and Reporting

The mandate of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is to promote inclusive economic, social and environmental development and support regional cooperation and integration in the Asian and Pacific region. ESCAP’s role as a regional development arm of the United Nations Secretariat is to support its membership, through its analytical, normative and technical cooperation, to respond to the development priorities and changing needs of the Asian and Pacific region.

The Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (CSAM) is a Regional Institution under the Environment and Development Division of ESCAP. CSAM supports member States efforts towards sustainable agricultural mechanization for the attainment of the internationally agreed Sustainable Development Goals in Asia and the Pacific. CSAM’s work promotes policy dialogue, information exchange, setting of testing standards and protocols, facilitation of regional agro-business and trade, cooperation among all pertinent stakeholders, and related capacity building in the region.

This position is located in CSAM. The incumbent of the post reports directly to the Head of the Regional Institute.


Under the direct supervision of the Head of Regional Institute, the incumbent is required to perform the following functions:
