The United Nations Environmental Programme (UN Environment) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. UN Environment’s Law Division is the lead Division charged with carrying out the functions of UN Environment in the field of environmental law, governance and related policy issues, including those related to Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs). This post is located in the United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment), Law Division, at UN Environment’s Headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. The Incumbent will report to the Head of the MEAs Support and Cooperation Unit of the Environmental Governance and Conventions Branch.
Within delegated authority, the Programme Officer will be responsible for the following duties:
Develop, implement and evaluate assigned programmes/projects, etc.; monitor and analyze programme/project development and implementation; review relevant documents and reports; identify problems and issues to be addressed and initiates corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; ensures follow-up actions.
Perform consulting assignments, in collaboration with the client, by planning facilitating workshops, through other interactive sessions and assisting in developing the action plan the client will use to manage the change.
Research, analyze and present information gathered from diverse sources.
Coordinate policy development, including the review and analysis of issues and trends, preparation of evaluations or other research activities and studies,
