Organizational Setting and Reporting

The United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. This position is located in the Corporate Services Division (CSD) at the Brussels duty station. The incumbent will act as UN Environment’s Thematic Programme for Sustainable Management of Natural Resources, including energy (ENRTP) Programme Management Unit Coordinator in charge of coordination and three Strategic Cooperation Agreements (SCAs) with the European Commission. Under the supervision of the Director, CSD, the incumbent will be responsible for the following:.


1. Participates as UN Environment ENRTP PMU Coordinator within the joint European Commission - UN Environment Programme Management Unit (PMU) to the coordination for the implementation of two Strategic Cooperation Agreements (SCAs) with Directorate General (DG) Environment and with DG Development and Cooperation under the Thematic Programme for sustainable management of Natural Resources including Energy (ENRTP): Contributes to the development of and disseminates the ENRTP reference documents setting out the rules and procedures of the ENRTP SCAs implementation in close collaboration with the European Commission Programme Management Unit (EC PMU) focal points, UN Environment and the Multilateral Environmental Agreement (MEA) Secretariats; Sets up regular communication/information flows between the EC, UN Environment and the MEA Secretariats on the ENRTP process to facilitate their understanding of the rules and procedures related to the ENRTP SCAs; Identifies issues in the implementation of the SCAs and proposes corrective actions; Prepares various written outputs on the ENRTP SCA process targeting various audiences (i.e. briefings to UN Environment EO) and fora.
