Organizational Setting and Reporting

The United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. UN Environment is an Implementing Agency under the Multilateral Fund of Montreal Protocol, Global Environment Facility and other Trust Funds to assist developing countries and economies in transition to implement the Montreal Protocol on Substances that deplete the Ozone Layer. This position is located in the UN Environment, Division of Economics, OzonAction Compliance Assistance Programme at the Paris duty station. Under its Ozonaction Programme, UN Environment provides assistance to developing countries in order that they maintain their compliance with the Montreal Protocol.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the and the Head of OzonAction, the incumbent will carry out the following duties: 1. Lead the overall development, review and maintenance of systems and processes to facilitate projects and sharing of related information and knowledge for UN Environment OzonAction Branch, Paris and CAP (Compliance Assistance Programme) regional offices:

Develop and lead the formulation of overall policies, procedures, objectives and guidelines affecting the implementation of hydrochlorofluoracarbons (HCFC) Phase out Management Plans (HPMPs).
