OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
Unitaid is a multilateral hosted by the World Health Organization. Unitaid is focused on making a unique and high-impact contribution to the global response in areas including HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria in developing countries. Its work catalyses improvements for the larger response through forward-looking and time-limited investments that are designed to increase access to better, more effective and more affordable health products (i.e. preventives, medicines and diagnostics). Investments typically target market-based interventions such as price reductions, improvements in quality and supply, and the introduction of innovative products more suitable for the populations in need.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
In this role, the Technical Manager, Strategy will
1. Provide strategic guidance to implement, monitor, and evaluate Unitaid’s Strategy. Provide thought leadership for strategy implementation, particularly as related to investments in HIV and related areas.
2. Design and oversee efforts to draft, update, publish, and utilize Unitaid’s landscape analyses for medicines, diagnostics, and preventive health products used in HIV and other diseases, including: A. Coordinate and conduct background research on key elements of the landscape, compile relevant data, and conduct additional analyses, as needed; B. Identify, coordinate, and supervise consultants to deliver components of the landscapes, including development of terms of reference and oversight of selection processes;C. Engage experts and stakeholders to peer-review and vet landscape analyses; and D. Contribute to articles, reports, and other resources related to Unitaid’s core work.
3. Identify potential areas for intervention where Unitaid could intervene to accelerate introduction of new innovative medicines, devices and systems to enable the global community to achieve higher impact of investments in global health.
4. Provide technical guidance and content leadership for Unitaid’s call for proposal processes, including:A. Design and drafting of calls for proposals;B. Assess proposals for technical merit and fit with Unitaid business model; C. Provide strategic guidance and technical expertise as part of the operations-led project team during grant development; D. Review, revise, and edit proposal tools as needed to maximize effectiveness and efficiency of the proposal submission and review system.
