Contract Duration

Interns are required to work full time for a period between three and six months (to be agreed to prior to commencement). Internship placements shall not be extended beyond six months.

Organisational Context

The Office of the Prosecutor investigates and prosecutes genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes committed by nationals of a State Party or on the territory of a State Party on or after 1 July 2002, the date of entry into force of the Rome Statute.

The Immediate Office of the Prosecutor (IOP) provides assistance and strategic advice to the Prosecutor in the day-to-day fulfilment of her functions and overall management and quality control of the Office; coordinates all strategic and administrative matters addressed to the Prosecutor and makes recommendations for action; coordinates internal and inter-organ activities on behalf of the Prosecutor; processes, prepares and vets all communications - correspondence, speeches, reports statements, inter alia - on behalf of the Prosecutor for final approval; coordinates ExCom meetings and review of filings, and communication with the Divisions, Sections, and the integrated teams.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Chef de Cabinet to the Prosecutor, one of more of the following tasks are typically assigned during placement for selected participants working directly in the Immediate Office:
